It’s 2025 already, how did 2024 go so quick!
With it being the 1st of January it means we are in the last month of the pheasant & partridge season and unfortunately for us it looks set to be a big change in the next few months. We were told before Christmas that the shoot we are on will not be running next season under the current owner but have heard nothing else about if anyone is taking it on.
It was a big shock to us and not what we wanted to hear on top of an already hard season so there has been many tears on my end however I’m trying to have a ‘new year, new start’ positive attitude and I have to believe that everything happens for a reason and something will come along that will be better for our little family. With that said I can’t tell you how stressed and anxious I am feeling about moving, we have moved around before as we know that’s what the job entails however it feels very different this time around now we have our 2 girls (everyone keeps telling me how resilient kids are and we hope they can see it as a big adventure).
I am feeling very grateful that I have this small business that is able to move along with us and all my exciting plans for little gamekeeper should still be able to go ahead. Going into my 3rd year of the business I feel like I really know what direction I want to go in and my aim for 2025 is to take you along on the journey with me by doing monthly blog posts, newsletters and more social media.
Thank you for taking the time to read my first blog post of 2025 and as always please remember my inbox is always open if you ever want to talk as this lifestyle can be difficult and don’t forget you can always contact the Gamekeepers welfare trust who are there to support keepers and their families.
I hope you all have a lovely end to the season and I will be back in February for another chat.
